ULTRA》）企划的作品。与《超人力霸王》一样采用了“为人类和平而战的特殊团队，与协助他们的巨大超人英雄”的模式。然而世界观与《超异象之谜》、《超人力霸王》两作相比却是完全丕变。　　首先是加入了地球因为游星间的侵略战争，而成为许多异星人攻击目标的世界观。并因此导入了“地球防卫军”这样的世界规模军事机构组织，剧中也出现许多与敌对宇宙人进行谍报战描写，使作品中呈现出强烈的军事色彩，特效场景中的超兵器出动过程亦是如此。这些设定也将播映当时的冷战时代背景，特别是越战给明显的反映出来。另外各集故事中也相当重视戏剧性，像抛出“地球人本身，过去是否为侵略地球的侵略者后裔？”的疑问，让主角的正义信念自根底产生动摇的第42集“侬马特的使者”，以及借由在地球防卫军新兵器实验下成为牺牲品的宇宙怪獣悲剧，来批判军备扩张竞赛的第26集“超兵器R1号”等，都成为超越娱乐作品范畴，命题沉重的作品。宇宙人与怪獣也由于“侵略地球的侵略者与其生物兵器”的特色强烈，以致单独的角色个性变得淡化，剧中甚至还有连名称都没出现的例子。这点与重视怪兽的特色，并在片头画面中公布怪兽名称的《超人力霸王》相比，也有明显差异。　　另一方面，拥有比超人力霸王更多样化超能力的主角‧超人七号的英雄特色，以及从硬派到幽默等多种变化风格的战斗场面演出、超级警备队爽快的活跃等，充分追求了针对主要目标儿童观众群的娱乐性，且确保本片在阖家观赏取向的超人英雄剧集中，站稳了一线作品的地位。　　根据为全剧催生的主要导演之一满田[禾斉]表示，“包括强烈的SF色彩与提高观众年龄层，在各方面都刻意突显与《超人力霸王》之间的差异”[1]。　　在本片的制作方面，基于从制作进度恶化，导致不得不落幕的《超人力霸王》所得到的教训，对于预算等状况进行严格控管，制作体制也重新强化。包括摄影现场的合理化、特效场景的建档化，利用既有日用品制作道具等多方面尝试当中，在剧情方面对于像怪兽与非人类型异星人不出现的故事等，也都下足了功夫。然而一方面吸引许多观众的娱乐性已经不再，加上后期节目收视率随着怪兽热潮衰退而呈现下降趋势，《超人七号》也终究得为自《超异象之谜》、《超人力霸王》以来的ULTRA系列划下休止符。　　不过，在没有出现重大路线变更且脉络一贯当中，将故事导向壮大格局的完结篇受到高度评价，之后的多次重播之下，前述所提及的本片魅力也开拓出全新的影迷群。因此将本片与《超人力霸王》视为超人系列代表性人气作品的观点开始广获认知，对于第2期超人系列的诞生，与70年代末期日本特摄英雄的重新评价都有很大的贡献。　　至今本片仍在系列中拥有极高人气（包括演职员都表示过相关看法，认为本片为超人系列的最高杰作），将过往圆谷作品DVD化的“DIGITAL     • 简介：内容为描写自宇宙侵略者手中守护地球的“超级警备队”(ウルトラ警备队)，以及协助地球人的英雄“超人七号”的活跃故事。　　本片是以ULTRA系列（空想特摄系列）第4部作品名义（第3作为东映制作的《CAPTAIN ULTRA》）企划的作品。与《超人力霸王》一样采用了“为人类和平而战的特殊团队，与协助他们的巨大超人英雄”的模式。然而世界观与《超异象之谜》、《超人力霸王》两作相比却是完全丕变。　　首先是加入了地球因为游星间的侵略战争，而成为许多异星人攻击目标的世界观。并因此导入了“地球防卫军”这样的世界规模军事机构组织，剧中也出现许多与敌对宇宙人进行谍报战描写，使作品中呈现出强烈的军事色彩，特效场景中的超兵器出动过程亦是如此。这些设定也将播映当时的冷战时代背景，特别是越战给明显的反映出来。另外各集故事中也相当重视戏剧性，像抛出“地球人本身，过去是否为侵略地球的侵略者后裔？”的疑问，让主角的正义信念自根底产生动摇的第42集“侬马特的使者”，以及借由在地球防卫军新兵器实验下成为牺牲品的宇宙怪獣悲剧，来批判军备扩张竞赛的第26集“超兵器R1号”等，都成为超越娱乐作品范畴，命题沉重的作品。宇宙人与怪獣也由于“侵略地球的侵略者与其生物兵器”的特色强烈，以致单独的角色个性变得淡化，剧中甚至还有连名称都没出现的例子。这点与重视怪兽的特色，并在片头画面中公布怪兽名称的《超人力霸王》相比，也有明显差异。　　另一方面，拥有比超人力霸王更多样化超能力的主角‧超人七号的英雄特色，以及从硬派到幽默等多种变化风格的战斗场面演出、超级警备队爽快的活跃等，充分追求了针对主要目标儿童观众群的娱乐性，且确保本片在阖家观赏取向的超人英雄剧集中，站稳了一线作品的地位。　　根据为全剧催生的主要导演之一满田[禾斉]表示，“包括强烈的SF色彩与提高观众年龄层，在各方面都刻意突显与《超人力霸王》之间的差异”[1]。　　在本片的制作方面，基于从制作进度恶化，导致不得不落幕的《超人力霸王》所得到的教训，对于预算等状况进行严格控管，制作体制也重新强化。包括摄影现场的合理化、特效场景的建档化，利用既有日用品制作道具等多方面尝试当中，在剧情方面对于像怪兽与非人类型异星人不出现的故事等，也都下足了功夫。然而一方面吸引许多观众的娱乐性已经不再，加上后期节目收视率随着怪兽热潮衰退而呈现下降趋势，《超人七号》也终究得为自《超异象之谜》、《超人力霸王》以来的ULTRA系列划下休止符。　　不过，在没有出现重大路线变更且脉络一贯当中，将故事导向壮大格局的完结篇受到高度评价，之后的多次重播之下，前述所提及的本片魅力也开拓出全新的影迷群。因此将本片与《超人力霸王》视为超人系列代表性人气作品的观点开始广获认知，对于第2期超人系列的诞生，与70年代末期日本特摄英雄的重新评价都有很大的贡献。　　至今本片仍在系列中拥有极高人气（包括演职员都表示过相关看法，认为本片为超人系列的最高杰作），将过往圆谷作品DVD化的“DIGITAL ULTRA SERIES”（デジタルウルトラシリーズ）中，本片更是凌驾在《超异象之谜》与《超人力霸王》之前成为首波主打作品，在首播结束40年之后的今天，卫星频道与无线频道仍然频繁重播。另外，本片也制作了承继世界观的续篇性质OV与TV特别篇作品。
